Conversion of an apartment within a modernist building designed by Maxwell Fry with Walter Gropius, completed in 1938. The block of 17 flats is a beautiful example of English Modernism, and has a wonderful light and airy structure. The aim of the conversion was to bring out the original design’s starkness and simplify the plan and details. The materials are selected from a reductive palette with the aim of focussing on space and light.
