Postmodern architecture contains progressive as well as regressive elements, which need to be understood not stylistically but rather politically. On the occasion of this online event series, hosted by IGMA, they will talk about the manifold aspects of this movement and its underlying politics with their guests. Leading up to this conversation, they will revisit their previous talk „Facing Covid-19 – (Politics of) Elements of Architecture“ (with Marianna Charitonidou and Andrea Bagnato).

Their first guest will be Paul-Moritz Rabe from the Munich Documentation Centre for the History of National Socialism (at 5 pm, in German). Together with Rabe, they visited (besides other right-wing spaces in Munich) the Carl Friedrich von Siemens Stiftung, which was in the 1980s partially designed by Hans Hollein – under the aegis of the then director Armin Mohler, a far-right philosopher.

At 6 pm Stephan Trüby will talk about PoMo in Stuttgart on Rob Krier, the Staatsgalerie Debate and the Architektur der Zukunft der ArchitekturConference in 1981.

At 7 pm the event will conclude through a collaboration with the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart (ABK) where Marianne Müller (ABK) and Stephan Trüby will engage in conversation with the architectural practice FAT from London about their practical and intellectual work.
